 課程大綱 :

  1. Course Introduction – brief on Mobile Broadband (2G/GSM, 3G/WCDMA, 4G/LTE, 5G) or Mobile Communications
  2. 3GPP, the SDO for 4G/LTE, IP and Essential IPs of 4G/5G, The role of 5GPPP
  3. 4G/LTE = 4G Radio Access Network (RAN) + 4G Core Network, Reference Network Architecture
  4. Introduction of BML, a Cloud-enabled 4G/LTE Network Testbed, MCC-based Archtecture
  5. The important/Key Technologies for the advancement of RAN in 4G/LTE and 5G;MIMO, OFDMA, CA, CoMP, SON, UDN, and HetNet
  6. 4G/LTE in BML for 3 kinds of exercises on experimental Testbed:
    1. Conduct Testing & Measurement(DUT, Traffic flow and management)
    2. Engage APPs Development (IoT, MAR, Mobile Gaming, Big data analytics for traffic management…,etc)
    3. Advanced key Technologies for the next generation
  7. The 4G/LTE Core Network: EPC
  8. The Network Aspects and Architecture of Mobile Broadband
  9. Exercise the experiments & Research on BML testbed
  10. Demo the results of exercise

評量方法 :

  1. 除了homework, mid-term, appearance in class佔50% 以外,term project為實作在實驗平台上亦佔50%。有3種R&D實驗實作類別可選擇,針對這3種作評量:
    1. Conduct Testing & Measurement
      1. DUT: 可分為component/module and system, 每位學生應對一種component, 一種system作測試
      2. 應用之performance evaluation必要的measurement
      3. UDN – ultra-dense small cell network interference measurement
    2. Engage APPs Development (IoT, MAR, Mobile Gaming, Traffic Flow,…,etc)
      1. Develop any type of Mobile Broadband application for navigation or gaming
        • MAR based outdoor navigation
        • Mobile network gaming
      2. Develop any kind of Internet of things (IoT) application
      3. Develop big data analytics for testing & measurement traffic flow and APPs generated traffic flow on BML experimental network
    3. Advance key Technologies for the next generation
      1. Select one of 3 most promising 5G key technologies: HetNet, SON, UDN and dig into the details of architecture, deployment, design, and realization
      2. Dig into the technical relationships among HetNet, SON, and UDN
  2. 在homework和mid-term方面亦以這三個類型為選擇,尤其是(I.a)類 和 (I.b)類。選擇(I.a)類者則以具有4G/LTE功能之USB Dongle, Smartphone, Router, Small Cell…etc為測試的標的物在BML平台作實驗。至於選擇(I.b)類者則以4G/LTE當作IoT應用的Gateway來作實驗平台、以4G/LTE之eNB為RAN和Cloud Server為real-time computer讓smartphone 作即時性face recognition. 選(I.c) 者則以HetNet, SON, UDN 對5G的Impacts
